Here is shout-out to Ruth!

I have loved watching Ruth create this dress and I have been so excited to share these pictures with you all. Ruth has worked so hard on this project and look how it turned out! She is always a pleasure to teach, she is fun and always excited to learn new things. I love to watch her create. She is learning how to sew darts, pleats, tucks, inserting zips, sleeves, and she even made a lining! πŸ™†β€β™€οΈ

There has been quite a mix of different classes recently from beginners to intermediate. We have been making jackets, blouses, dresses, cushions, bags, sewing machine covers, and much more. My ladies have been busy learning how to make button wholes, how to use wadding and sewing zips for the first time, inserting sleeves and cuffs, finishing necklines with facings, and learning how to use an overlocker all while munching cake! 🍰

Ladies you are awesome! πŸ‘ Thank you for the laughter and great conversation. I really enjoy teaching you and most of all; I love eating cake with you! 🀣🍰😍

Perfection. This is a subject that my wonderful women and I have been discussing recently. Many of these women that come to my classes experience challenges in their lives and during our sewing classes they learn to relax and enjoy the process of learning instead of being too self-critical. I have found over the years while teaching beginners that if they are too harsh on them selves, are impatient with their growth, or pay attention to their limiting self-beliefs, it takes them longer to learn. I try to create a fun atmosphere for them to learn. I try to show them that as they pay attention to the progress they are making and celebrate even the little things that they will learn faster. I have seen that making learning fun, cultivating self belief, and a view of our selves that we are already complete and whole is a great way to encourage a persons skills and learning.

Every woman I spend time with and have the privilege of teaching influences me too. Every time I encourage them to see their progress it influences me to see mine. I meet so many amazing, strong and creative women. And then to watch their talents grow, their confidence blossom and their self doubt slowly slip away is a wonderful experience for me. Just as I empower them, they empower me! πŸ’ͺπŸ‘πŸ˜πŸ°
