The Power of Being You

These sessions are not counselling sessions, instead it is more of a support and coaching experience. I have created a peaceful environment with soft music and fairy lights. There will be crafts, cake, laughter, learning, sharing and personal growth. It is not necessary for you to share anything personal if you do not feel comfortable. Within each session we will develop our friendships, some may share how they feel and we will share what we learn on our journey. I will help you understand more about mental health, how we experience it, how these issues can be triggered and much more. I will share different ways to overcome your difficulties and you will all be a support to each other.

My wish is to help women see their gifts, talents and their worth. I want them to see that because of their difficulties they can become strong. We all can use our experiences to become empowered women. We can draw up on our difficulties and use them to learn from. I also wish to help these women feel compassion for themselves and to show them that they are definitely not alone!

For the past few years I have met some of the most incredible women. They have used my sewing classes for a range of reasons. Some have simply come to learn how to sew, others have come for tutoring so they can start their own business, and then there have been women who have come seeking to overcome their difficulties with mental health issues. I have met many women who have tried counselling and it had either become too costly to keep up or they have found that the structure of counselling has not worked for them. This got me pondering, these women wanted coping mechanisms, things they could do to over come their difficulties. They wanted a coach rather than a counsellor. They wanted support from other people suffering from mental health issues. So with all this in mind, I have created a support group where women can come and be supported by each other. I want to create an environment where women will come and develop friendships with women that understand them. A place where they can connect, feel strengthened and uplifted. A place where they can learn from each other and pass on lessons they have learnt from their own experiences. I believe there are lessons to be learnt in our experiences and as we learn them we can become stronger women. I believe we can grow through our experiences as we learn to help others. I myself have experienced anxiety and depression and I have also studied counselling. This has taught me many strategies that can help us to move forward and overcome our difficulties while learning from them.

During this session you will learn how our experiences with a anxiety can actually make us stronger. We can learn how our feelings are triggered and how we can use them to help us grow, become more confident and achieve what we want in life.  

You are NOT inadequate. You have everything within you and around you to use to be your best self. Yes, you have weaknesses and you are not perfect but you were born with the most amazing gifts and abilities for you to use in your life, for you and for the purpose of helping those around you. You were individually created with everything you need. You were created to win!

Our relationships with one another are a place where our wounds can be brought up so we can be healed. When a person shows you their wounds and we all have them, they often show as character flaws. Often our wounds show as anger, frustration, impatience and other traits. We see ourselves as flawed instead of wounded. This session looks deeper into our character and why we may behave the way we do. We will learn to release feelings of guilt and pain and replace them with self-compassion. This will also help us see other people in our lives differently; we will develop a deeper understanding for our friends and family. Learning how to truly love ourselves really does liberate us!

You can be lonely in a crowded room. Loneliness is, therefore, a state of mind, an emotion brought on by feeling isolated or disconnected from other human beings.

During this session you will learn how to overcome feeling lonely and how to create deeper connections with the people in your life. You will also have the opportunity to make new friends.  

Feelings of guilt and shame often deludes our minds, we say thins like, “am I a bad person?" Guilt is when we think we have done a “bad” things, shame is; I am the “bad” thing. This session helps us understand what guilt and shame really are. What purpose do they serve? Can we learn from them? We will also understand where these feelings are genuine or an illusion. You will learn to overcome them and use your experiences to become wiser and make better decisions.

During this session we will disuse what depression is, feels like, how we develop depression and how we can help our selves overcome it. The group will be a support to each other so you will not feel alone in your experiences. There is a lot you can do to understand depression and during this session you will learn some strategies to help you. This session will open your eyes to the strength within you, you will be uplifted and we will support each other and gain a positive out mindset.

Stress can be described as the distress you feel that is caused as a result of demands placed on your bodies’ physical or mental energy. Most people will experience symptoms of stress and stress related issues at some point in their lives, therefor it is important to learn the skills you need to manage and reduce unhealthy levels of stress in your life. Through this session you will understand the common causes of stress and stress symptoms, you will learn how to manage this emotion.  

Grieving is part of a necessary process that we experience when either a loved one has died or when a marriage or relationship has ended. How a person may feel when grieving can depend on many things, such as the nature of the loss, a person’s belief or religion, their upbringing, age and physical and mental health. During this session you will have opportunities to share how you are feeling if you wish too and learn from the group, how other people feel and what they have experienced. This helps us feel connected and that our feelings are normal. We will discuss different things we can do to help our selves and others in the grieving process.

We can feel vulnerable when we open ourselves up emotionally to someone and we feel we have been harmed, either physically or emotionally. This could happen with a family member, friend or spouse. We all want to feel loved and appreciated. We can often feel we need others to help us when we are down and comfort us in our trials. We can also feel we need encouragement to do our best and want to feel valuable. Because of these feelings, we believe we are putting our trust in others around us to support how we feel. If we believe we are not supported then it can cause us to distrust others. We can also find it difficult to trust others if we have been betrayed or feel we have been let down in some way. During this session we will learn how powerful vulnerability is and how to trust again.

You are amazing. You are strong. You are powerful not despite your difficulties but because of you difficulties. It is your experiences in life that help you understand others, you can relate on a deeper level because of your trials. They are there to show you your strength. You can use them to your advance and I will show you how!
